GAP Year

Deciding to travel after graduation is an amazing way to discover your passions and find out who you want to be.  There are many different ways to make this happen.  You can grab your passport and head to the airport BUT there are some things you should know first.  The Canadian government has travel guides for youth planning on going off on adventures.  It is important that you understand your responsibilities when it comes to documentation, maintaining your safety, etc.  Follow this link to the website so you can prepare for the adventure of a lifetime.

If going on your own is NOT for you but you still want to travel there are companies that provide you with the adventure you want and the safety net of a parent organization taking care of the details.

Lattitude Canada is a company that organizes volunteer service opportunities for 3-12 months in duration.  For a fee, they will guide you through the document process, place you with a destination, and have on the ground support in-country.

There are other organizations that provide more vacation style trips with service elements built-in.  Rustic Pathways is one of these.

Can Gap is an umbrella organization where many options for GAP adventures are listed.
